Respecting tradition. Not so long ago, cabinets and cupboards were passed down from generation to generation, always as good as new. These durable items were intended for many years of use; they were made to last and keep their value. We at Niemen Tehtaat want to continue this tradition. We have adapted the hundred-year-old tradition of carpentry, National Romanticism, and birch to suit modern tastes. Jugend has been and still is a range of furniture that with its fine details and strong splicings and fittings is durable and showcases the beauty of wood. The history of Jugendstil. In Finland, Jugendstil, or Art Nouveau, was also called National Romanticism. The Jugendstil period, around 1890–1915, was characterised by appreciation of craftsmanship and the authenticity of the materials used. Flora and fauna were used as decorative motifs, and the colours were natural and limpid. Despite the ornamentality of National Romanticism, Jugendstil favoured functionality. The furniture was characteristically sturdy and decorated with patterns, battening, and stripes that required a skilled craftsman. It was often asymmetric, with curved lines. Niemi quality in genuine birch. Jugend furniture is made of solid birch, which has been the traditional material of Niemen Tehtaat for all of its hundred years of operation. The Jugend collection is to a great extent structured and manufactured like the classic Finnish designs dating from the early 20th century. Modern technology has increased the functionality of the furniture by making possible details such as bearing slide rails and choice of handedness. The furniture is delivered to the customer as ordered and already assembled. There are two colour options, medium brown and dark hazel. Jugend furniture – for everywhere in the home. The functional Jugend collection with its pure lines is impressive everywhere in the modern home. Safe tempered glass panes and doors made to order for either left- or right-handed persons make it possible to place the furniture anywhere you want. Jugend – for everywhere in the home.
